Microsoft SQL Server 2008/R2 Business Intelligence Essentials

Help your company by getting valuable knowledge from its data that supports the growth and profitability of the company. SQL Server as a leader in the world of Business Intelligence is capable of much more than the average database server. In this course you will learn how to give the managers and other business users the ability to quickly and easily analyse large amounts of data, without waiting and without affecting production systems performance. You’ll also learn how non-technical users can easily create reports, analyses, and charts on top of them - without the knowledge of SQL Server operations. And, you’ll enable management to keep track of what’s happening in the company in real time. A special chapter will focus on building high-speed data warehouses, which serve to support such analyses. Highlight of the course will be the mining of valuable knowledge about the behaviour of customers or employees from the corporate data using built-in artificial intelligence, and its application to increase profits and customer satisfaction. The course concludes with options for integration of all these technologies into your corporate applications.

Delegates will learn how they can dynamically create complex analytical and business reports with an immediate response, regardless of the amount of data (such as obtaining complex reports from terabytes of data within a single second), how to use it for tuning server performance, and how to use the newly obtained information for the company management to make better decisions. They will also learn how to use data mining and artificial intelligence to discover new, valuable information from existing corporate data about customers, their behaviour, and relationships and dependencies within the company that will be highly appreciated by the business and management users. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: - Describe the advantages of multi-dimensional processing of data - Create and use OLAP cubes - Configure cube dimensions and their hierarchies - Implement proper aggregates for the data - Use basic MDX querying to cubes - Use advanced features like KPIs, custom calculations or translations - Configure and administer OLAP cubes - Extract knowledge from tons of data using data mining - Describe and use different data mining algorithms to get insight into data
